It takes a spy to hunt a spy. When British intelligence agent Kathryn Woodhouse (Cate Blanchett) is suspected of betraying her country, her husband George (Michael Fassbender), a legendary agent himself, is assigned to investigate. Kathryn is one of five double-agent suspects, and George invites them all to dinner, setting off a tense game of secrets and suspicion. Directed by Steven Soderbergh, Black Bag is a stylish, witty espionage thriller that relies on intrigue rather than action, allowing Blanchett and Fassbender to shine. Sleek, sharp, and suspenseful, it’s an exemplary spy caper. This is an Oswestry Film Society screening.
